Dr. Mitsuko Horiuchi teaches at Bunkyo University in Tokyo and is a scholar and expert on gender and human rights issues in Japan. She served as the ILO Special Advisor on Gender Issues and Director of the ILO Tokyo Branch Office. She is active internationally, and has spoken at events such as the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo. She has advised the Cabinet on Womenomics. Currently, she is President of Kitakyushu Forum on Asian Women and Visiting Professor, Bunkyo Gakuin University.

Dr. Horiuchi will discuss how Prime Minister Abe’s policies designed to bring more women into the workforce are working, and how they are affecting the role of women in Japan.

This event is free and open to the public. Free lunch will be provided.
